We’re claiming both this week’s featured artists as Scots.
Featured artist Michael McGovern is indisputably so, though he’s also making waves in Ireland, where a certain Hollywood star sang his praises (almost). Find out more on the show, which will also feature the first live song we’ve had (there was no stopping him). Delighted to have Michael on board. He’s a talent on the rise – both a sensitive singer-songwriter in the classic mould and a free-wheeling stage performer.
The featured songwriter is Hoagy Carmichael, who came from a long line of Carmichaels and Campbells, who at some point in the 18th Century crossed from Lanarkshire to Virginia. Admittedly the Scottish influence is not strong on the hundreds of Tin Pan Alley tunes he gave the world! But the Captain set eyes on him once in a most unlikely Scottish location. Again, listen to the show for the full story.
Available here on the website from 7pm on Sunday.
