On the subject of Komorebi, my late wife Rosemary wrote this short poem which she made the first poem in her first collection, I am a field:
Komorebi
The Japanese have a word
for my first wordless memory.
Helpless in my pram,
I gaze up at the sky,
delighting in the light
filtering through
flickering leaves,
tickling my eyes.
Just me and space,
no time or context.
It’s the first time I begin
hazily to understand
there is an out there
and a me,
a being behind the eyes.
My first verb.
My first poem.
